Burst water pipeline in Karachi's Gulshan Iqbal still not fixed on third day

KARACHI (Dunya News) – Repair work of water pipeline in Gulshan Iqbal has not started after three days it burst.

48-inch wide pipeline that supplies water to different localities in Karachi from Dhiabiji water pump had burst earlier. Water board authorities have said that until the pipeline is drained empty, it could not be repaired.

At least 24 hours would be required to repair the damage after the process is started. The city is facing shortage of around seven crore gallons.

Different areas affected due to the damage at pipeline include Gulshan Iqbal, Numaish Chowrangi, Pir Ilahi Buksh Colony, Old Clifton, Sadar, Old City Area, Kiamari and adjoining areas.

Another pipeline was reported burst in Federal Urdu University Area. The incidents caused issues for the locals as stagnant water restricted their movement.

However, the authorities have cleared the affected areas and pools of stagnant water have been drained from the roads and streets.
