Shahbaz convenes meeting to review NAP implementation

The meeting also offered Fateha for the martyred woman co-pilot
LAHORE (Dunya News) – Chief Minister (CM) Shahbaz Sharif on Friday has chaired a meeting of the apex committee to review progress in implementation of National Action Plan (NAP) against terrorism.
According to a press release issued from the CM House, the meeting continued for three hours while different aspects of law enforcement agencies’ operations were covered. The participants discussed actions against sectarianism and extremism in detail.
The meeting also offered Fateha for the martyred woman co-pilot. Late Mariam Mukhtar had embraced martyrdom earlier this week in Mianwali area as a jet crashed owing to technical fault. She is the first woman pilot affiliated with the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) who has embraced martyrdom.
The participants also remembered hundreds of others who have lost their lives for the country in war on terror and else wise. The Shahbaz Sharif paid rich tribute to martyred Colonel (r) Shuja Khanzada, Punjab late home minister. The late minister had embraced martyrdom in a terror attack in July in Shadi Khan that was his native town.
Following the incident, a portrait of the brave retired army officer was hung in the Punjab Assembly as tribute to contributions to curb terrorism and being the backbone of operations against militants in Punjab.
The CM, while addressing the meeting said that Khanzada implemented NAP in the province in an effective manner. His sacrifice would be remembered by generation to come, he added.
Shahbaz also gave a special mention to the martyred woman pilot. The Chief Minister said that none could defeat the nation which has produced daughters like late Mukhtar.
The document issued states that late Khanzada’s son, Member of Provincial Assembly (MPA) Jahangeer Khanzada also took part in the meeting today.
A course-of-action, named NAP was chalked out after militants stormed Army Public School (APS) Peshawar in December 2014 and killed more than 140 persons, mostly students. The attack was conceived after Pakistan Army launched a major offensive against terrorists in tribal areas in Waziristan earlier that year.
Earlier today, Shahbaz chaired a meeting to review progress in power projects’ contruction. Talking to the participants, the CM said that power projects are under speedy construction in bid to curb energy crisis in Pakistan.
Shahbaz said that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government would not compromise over transparency and fair allocation of funds in the projects.
The meeting reviewed progress of different power and infrastructure projects that are under construction. The CM said that Sahiwal coal power project would complete in 2017. The project would add 3,600 Mega Watt (MW) electricity to the national grid, he added.
It should be mentioned here that Sahiwal plant would function on gas while Pakistan has collaborated with Russia for a gas project. The North-South gas pipeline would make possible smooth supply of gas from Karachi to Lahore.
Shahbaz said that the government saved at least 110 billion rupees by maintaining transparency in different gas projects.
The CM lauded efforts of the administration and said that no previous government saved as much national resources as PML-N. He reassured that the government would never compromise on fairness in the projects that are on the floor or those in pipeline.
