Lahore High Court on Monday declared Amir Yar Warran ineligible for contesting by-polls for possessing a fake degree. Waran had resigned from the NA-184 Bahawalpur seat to avoid an adverse decision from the Supreme Court because of his controversial bachelor's degree. While the PPP awarded him party ticket for the by-election scheduled for August 25. Earlier, Warrans candidature has been challenged in Lahore High Court.The petitioner's counsel submitted that the respondent had submitted his bachelor's degree obtained from Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur, Sindh, which was subsequently declared as forged. Thereafter the respondent submitted his admission form for appearing in bachelor's examination from the Islamia University, Bahawalpur, and instead of appearing himself another person appeared on his behalf in the examination, he said. He submitted that the impersonator was caught red-handed and the respondent was debarred from appearing in subsequent three examinations and a fine of Rs2,000 was also imposed on him besides registration of a criminal case.The petitioner's counsel further submitted that the respondent got a degree of bachelor from Balochistan University, Quetta, which was subsequently cancelled and the objections were raised before the RO at the time of scrutiny of the nomination papers of the respondent but he rejected the objections in a slipshod manner and accepted the nomination papers of the respondent.
