Senate approves anti-money laundering bill 2015
Opposition also staged a walkout from the Senate for neglecting west route in CPEC.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The Senate House under the supervision of Chairman Raza Rabbani passed anti-money laundering bill 2015 in a meeting held today (Friday) in Islamabad.
During the session, the federation presented new amended anti-money laundering bill 2015 which was later approved by the House.
While addressing the House, Federal Minister Ishaq Dar stated that not bringing new National Finance Commission (NFC) Award is not against the Constitution.
The Senate was also informed that as many as 39 public sector enterprises are on the active list of government for privatization.
Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Shahid Khaqan Abbasi told the House during question hour, privatization programme includes divestment in various entities especially in oil and gas, power and financial sectors.
Leader of the House Raja Zafarul Haq categorically said that the government is giving preference to the development of western route of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor project.
Minister for States and Frontier Regions Abdul Qadir Baloch told the House that under China-Pakistan Economic Corridor Project power plants of five thousand megawatt will be installed in Punjab, four thousand in Sindh, three hundred in Balochistan, eleven hundred in Khyber Pakhtunkhawa and twelve hundred in Azad Kashmir.
Meanwhile, opposition parties staged a walkout from the Senate in a protest for not addressing their reservations over China-Pakistan economic Corridor (CPEC).

The opposition parties including Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party lashed out at the federation regarding implementation of CPEC and stated that it’s unjust that the incumbent government is only focusing on one province.
Senator Usman Kakkar stated that west route was completely neglected in the CPEC as not a single energy project has been installed on that route. He said that the government’s irresponsible attitude has shown that opposition was right about economic corridor.
