Dacoits killed in Korangi SIU encounter identified: SSP Farooq Awan
The robbers were involved in various dacoity bids and extortion, says SSP Farooq.
KARACHI (Dunya News) – At least three dacoits were killed in police encounter in Karachi’s Korangi area on early Tuesday s morning.
The joint operation of law enforcement agencies is still successfully underway in different parts of Karachi as in a recent incident Special Investigation Unit (SIU) killed three suspects.
According to SIU Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Farooq Awan, the deceased bandits were involved in heinous crimes including robbery and extortion. He said that the suspects fled the scene after carrying out dacoity bid.
He further told the media that the dead criminals, identified as Saleem, Shakoor and Ali, along with their group head Saeed ul Islam had conducted theft in at least three private banks in Korangi. SSP revealed that security personnel had already arrested Saeed ul Islam in 2014 who is claiming to be a member of an outlawed organization.
Moreover, he assured that Karachi operation is giving positive outcomes as dozens of extortionists, target killers and terrorists have been held so far. He said that stern action will be continued until the end of last criminal.
Karachi, a sprawling city of roughly 20 million, has long had a reputation for high crime rates as well as ethnic, political and sectarian violence.
But the violence has fallen significantly since 2013 after police and paramilitary Rangers launched a targeted operation in the metropolis.
