LHC rejected Gullu Butt's bail plea in the car damage case during Model Town tragedy

LAHORE: (Dunya News) – Lahore High Court (LHC) has on Thursday rejected the bail plea of the infamous character of Model Town tragedy Gullu Butt. Gullu Butt was found involved in damaging cars during the Model Town tragedy, reported Dunya News.

According to details, 2-member bench of LHC comprising Justice Abdul Sami Khan and Justice James Joseph heard the bail plea of Shahid aka Gullu Butt. Gullu Butt’s lawyers told the bench that trial court convicted the accused in violation of the merit. They said that the accused was alleged of damaging the windscreens of the cars only but no claimant brought the case before the police. They said that Gullu Butt was a victim of discrimination against which a plea in under hearing in Lahore High Court. They pleaded before the bench to release Butt on bail, suspending his sentence, till the case is not decided.

After the initial hearing, the bench remarked that in the light of a recent decision by the Supreme Court, bail plea of the accused cannot be accepted in such a case.

After hearing the arguments, the bench dismissed Gullu Butt’s bail plea.
