The Trading Cooperation of Pakistan (TCP) will continue import of 1.25 million tons of refined sugar to overcome shortages in the holy month of Ramadan, but increased its price for Utility Stores by Rs10 per kg. The decision to increase the price was taken at a meeting of the Economic Coordination Committee of the cabinet. According to the detail, sugar will be sold at Rs55 per kg instead of Rs45 per kg during the holy month of Ramadan. The trading co-operations will buy sugar from Trading Cooperation of Pakistan (TCP). Recommendation to import 0.5million tons of raw sugar prior to the crushing season was also proposed in the meeting.
