Four policemen shot dead in Korangi area of Karachi
The attack took place in Korangi Zaman Town area.
KARACHI (Dunya News) – At least four policemen were killed and one injured when unidentified gunmen opened fire on police mobile in Karachi today (Wednesday).
The incident took place in Korangi Zaman Town area.
According to SP Korangi, four terrorists riding on two motorcyles opened fire on police van as the policemen parked their vehicle outside a hotel to have lunch.
Four cops including ASI Aqeel and constable jameel were killed on the spot while the suspects managed to escape from scene.
Meanwhile, a heavy contingent of police personnel reached the spot and cordoned off the area.
Police have recovered 9mm bullet shells from the crime scene.
Karachi, a metropolis of 20 million that hosts the stock exchange and central bank, is beset by armed violence. Two years ago, the military, with help from police, paramilitary Rangers and intelligence agencies, unleashed a campaign against armed gangs and suspected militants in the city.
Police records show that murders are down to 202 so far in 2015, compared with 2,507 in 2013.
