Govt committed to provide maximum relief to flood affectees: PM
The Prime Minister was briefed by the authorities on damages caused by floods in Isakhel.
MIANWALI (Web Desk) - Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif today (Saturday) visited Mianwali to review flood situation and relief work in Isakhel area.
During his visit, the Prime Minister was briefed by the authorities on damages caused by floods and relief activities in Isakhel.
He was informed that seven people lost their lives in rain-related incident while 45 villages and 55,000 people were affected by recent floods in the area.
Addressing the flood-affected families, Nawaz Sharif expressed his heartfelt condolences over the loss of lives.
He said the government is giving priority to the development of backward areas and bring them at par with the developed ones.
"China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project is a message of prosperity for residents of Mianwali," he added.
He said the government will leave no stone unturned for rehabilitation of the flood-affected families.
On the occasion, Nawaz Sharif announced Rs300 million for rehabilitation work in Isakhel and Rs200 million in grants for water supply to the area.
He also announced that 1.3 billion rupees will be spent to prevent flooding caused by hill torrents.
The Prime Minister pointed out that more dams are required to save the population from the devastation of floods.
He said the country s economy has started showing positive trend and it will be further strengthened in the next three years.
