Sialkot: Two Pakistani civilians killed, 6 injured in Indian border fire
Terrified villagers on both sides say they are fed up with the cycle of violence.
SIALKOT (Dunya News) – At least two Pakistani civilians were killed and six others including women and children sustained injuries when Indian Border Security Forces (BSF) opened unprovoked firing and shelling in different sectors in Sialkot along the Line of Control (LoC), the ISPR reported on Tuesday.
Indian forces targeted civilian settlements in Sukhial village on working boundary near Sialkot district. A 14-year-old boy identified as Asif lost his life while six people including children and women were injured in the incident.
The injured have been identified as Younas, Bisma, Bano, Sehrish and Yasir. They were shifted to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH).
In another ceasefire violation, the Indian BSF targeted Mathial, Bajwal, Devra and other villages in Bajwat sector. In Chaprar sector, mortar shells landed in Nandpur, Dhol Malanay, Salehpur and Sohailpur villages.
A 22-year-old boy identified as Adnan succumbed to his injuries in Kachimaan village.
Meanwhile, Punjab Rangers gave a befitting response to Indian firing.
India and Pakistan often accuse each other of violating a 2003 ceasefire agreement. The two countries have fought three wars, two of them over the divided and disputed Kashmir region.
The Muslim-majority Himalayan region is divided and administered separately by India and Pakistan but claimed by both in full, since the two countries gained independence from Britain in 1947.
