NAB report says biggest corruption was found in the misuse of authority by politicians, bureaucrats

ISLAMABAD: (Dunya News) – National Accountability Bureau (NAB) is out to bring back the looted Rs. 542 billion from the national treasure. A NAB report issued on Sunday has revealed the biggest portion of corruption, Rs. 409 billion, was done through the misuse of authority by politicians, bureaucrats and other officials, reported Dunya News.

Report says that NAB is probing 22 cases of misuse of power. It says that 13 cases are being investigated while 15 suspects are under trial in accountability courts. It said that national treasure suffered a dent worth Rs. 83 billion in land related scandals of politicians, bureaucrats and other individuals. In 3 of the land related cases, NAB is still working on the volume of corruption. 21 cases are under investigation.

12 land related cases are in the investigation phase while 17 cases are under trial in accountability courts.

Financial scandals worth Rs. 50 billion include fraud cases with the state and the common people. In 3 of such cases, NAB hasn’t yet figured out the volume of the corruption. According to the report, 22 cases are at the inquiry level, 19 going through the investigation phase whereas 9 cases are under trial.
