He admitted that the role of army in war against terrorism is praiseworthy.

It merits mentioning here that Rangers’ special powers to raid and make arrests were due to end at midnight tonight.

Earlier, Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali on Wednesday said that the period of special authority for Rangers is likely to be extended, adding that matters in this regard have been settled, Dunya News reported.

Chaudhry Nisar said that there have been speculations about Rangers in Karachi, adding that the media reports gave the impression as if Rangers force is rented and doesn’t belong to Pakistan. He said Rangers have played a crucial role regarding enforcing law and order in Karachi.

“Rangers showed performance while risking their own lives but it is being made controversial”, he said.
