Karachi: Rangers release police official from custody after negotiations
Rangers claim that police official was detained on suspicion of involvement in criminal activities.
KARACHI (Dunya News) - Rangers on Saturday released a police official arrested from Mominabad police station Karachi, Dunya News reported.
According to details, Rangers officials took a policeman Jaan Muhammad into custody without informing the Senior House Officer (SHO) after which the situation became tense.
After getting information of the incident, officers of other police stations also reached Mominabad.
Rangers claim that the police official was detained on suspicion of involvement in criminal activities.
However, negotiations were held between Rangers and police at midnight as a result of which the arrested official was freed after five hours and was later shifted to Mominabad police station where he met his family members.
According to Additional Inspector General of Police (AIGP) Karachi Ghulam Qadir Thebo, the event was a result of mere misunderstanding.
He said that police themselves will conduct complete inquiry of the police official whereas he will be handed over to Rangers if found to be involved in criminal activities.
