IHC rejects federation's plea challenging reinstatement of PEMRA Chairman
Ahmed assumed charge of the post without written order, says plaintiff's counsel
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday has rejected the plea of the federation challenging the reinstatement of Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) Chairman Chaudhry Rasheed.
Justice Noorul Haq N Qureshi held hearing of the petition against the order of reinstatement earlier. Counsel for the defendant Idrees Ashraf Advocate appeared before the court while Additional Attorney General Afnan Kareen Kundi presented the arguments from federation’s side. He said that the reinstatement order of PEMRA Chairman is contrary to the facts.
He said that Ahmed assumed charge of the post without written order. The judge remarked that the government does not need to issue a formal order after the court has given its verdict into the matter. The plaintiff’s counsel said that the federation wants to file an intra-court appeal and urged the court to annul its order.
However, the IHC rejected the petition submitted by the federation.
