President Asif Ali Zardari has asserted that Pakistan Peoples Party has given several sacrifices for restoration of democracy in the country. He said that if Sindhi democracy would not have been derailed then the country would have been in a better position. He urged that dictators should avoid criticizing the elected parliament.The President was addressing the balloting and cheque distribution ceremony under the Waseela-e-Haq programme of the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) here at the Presidency where he said that the government was pursuing a comprehensive program of politico-economic emancipation and empowerment of the women as per cherished dream of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, who throughout her life fought for this cause. President reiterated that the government will complete its tenure of five years. He urged on the need to identify the enemies of democracy. President said that he respects all his political opponents. He also said that the masses of the country want to see Jamshed Dasti as a Member of National Assembly.The President said some time back when there was a law on statute book requiring representatives to possess bachelors degree, no one asked questions about the academic qualifications of elected members. But strangely, now that the said law had been repealed some people were agitating the issue of degrees of MPs and seeking to disqualify them, he added.
