Peshawar: Police foil terror bid, blast injures five QRF personnel

The police station officials did not allow media to record footage of the weapons seized
PESHAWAR (Dunya News) – The police on Friday have foiled a terrorism bid by arresting at least four terrorists near Sakhi Bridge area.
The police stopped a vehicle approaching a police-check bearing a green number-plate and seized a bomb weighing at least 16 kilogram (kg), three Kalashnikovs and as many as six detonators. The police arrested four terrorists who were dressed in Khasadar uniforms.
According to the police, three of the arrested insurgents belong to Khyber Agency while one is an Afghan national.
The police station officials neglected Operations Wing Senior Superintendent of Police’s (SSP) directives and did not allow media to record footage of the weapons seized from their possession.
Separately, at least one passerby and five officials of Quick Response Force (QRF) sustained injuries in a blast near Gulbahar Police Station today, Dunya News reported.
According to police, the bomb was planted alongside the road and when the QRF car reached near it the bomb exploded injuring five officials and a passerby.
Police team and high officials reached the scene and cordoned off the area whereas rescue teams shifted the injured to Lady Reading Hospital for medical assistance. The condition of one QRF official is said to be critical.
As per initial police reports, the blast was conducted through remote controlled device and carried two kilograms explosives.
Moreover, the hospital administration has halted media coverage of the injured.
