Elite against Danish Schools because they don't want poor to study at Aitchison standard schools
LAHORE: (Dunya News) – Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has on Monday said that the elite class was against Danish School Project because they do not want the poor children to study at Aitchison standard school. He appreciated the Danish School students who had stood fifth in a competition held in the United States of America, Dunya News reported.
Addressing the “Parho Punjab, Barho Punjab” (Study Punjab, Progress Punjab) ceremony at Aiwan-e-Iqbal, Lahore, CM Punjab said that the elite did not want the poor to study in Aitchison and Becaon House level schools. He said that the investment in education meant investing in Pakistan’s future. He said that the rich could not be allowed to monopolize education.
Shahbaz Sharif said that the neighboring countries like Bangladesh and Sri Lanka went far ahead of Pakistan while Pakistanis were still fighting the terrorism. He said that the terrorism could not be defeated without education.
Mentioning an orphan girl studying in Danish School Chishtian, CM Punjab said that the girls like her were the future of Pakistan. He called upon the students Iqra, Batool and Sana, the three girls who had stood fifth in the US competition, along with their principal on the stage and appreciated them.
Shahbaz Sharif said that under the “Parho Punjab, Barho Punjab” project, the passing marks for students have been set to 85%. He said that he was being suggested by some to reduce the passing marks to 80% but he refused and said that merit could not be compromised under any condition.
CM Punjab took the responsibility of schools and ordered the civil servants and the legislators to alos take up this responsibility. He said that the students will have to be given the lesson of tolerance at the schools, colleges and universities.
