NEPRA gives consent to buy 1000 mw of electricity from Iran

Price of electricity bought from Iran would be 8 to 11 rupees per unit

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The hearing about buying 1,000 megawatt of electricity from Iran took place in National Electric Power Regulatory Authority Islamabad. NDD officials told NEPRA that the price of electricity bought from Iran would be 8 to 11 rupees per unit.

Deputy GM of NDD told during the hearing that Irani company will build a plant at Zahedan city to generate one thousand and three hundred megawatt (1300) of electricity. He also said that the transmission line from border of Iran to Quetta will cost 58 million dollars.

He said that Iran is ready to provide 3000 megawatt of electricity after the execution of initial plan and that Iran has offered to bear 70% of expense of transmission line as well. NEPRA agreed to the plan after the hearing and gave its consent.
