Lawyers observe black day against 21st amendment, military courts
Lawyers went to courts wearing black armbands; said army courts are same as martial law
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Lawyers from across the country observed black day on Pakistan Bar Council’s call against 21st amendment in constitution. Lawyers attended the courts wearing black armbands in Islamabad and Rawalpindi. Black flags were hoisted on bar rooms in protest.
Lawyers from Lahore also condemned the military courts, hoisted black flags on Lahore High Court building and wore black armbands.
The 21st Amendment was condemned in meeting of Multan District Bar as well. Lawyers said that having military courts is same as the rule of martial law in the country. They said we cannot root out terrorism without changing the judicial system.
Black flags were hoisted on bar rooms in Faislabad, Sahiwal, Bahawalpur and DG Khan in protest of the military courts.
The lawyers of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa also protested against 21st Amendment and wore black armbands in courts.
Lawyers in Sukkur boycotted all kinds of court proceedings today and hearings of many cases were postponed because of this protest.
