Karachi Central Jail officials had requested the ATC for issuance of death warrants of six prisoners

KARACHI (Web Desk) - An anti-terrorism court on Saturday issued death warrants of six condemned prisoners including an Al-Qaeda member.

The prisoners include members of banned outfits Muhammad Talha, Khalil Ahmed, Shahid Hanif, Shafqat, Bahram Khan and Al-Qaeda’s Zulfiqar Ali.

As per details, Zulfiqar Ali will be hanged in Rawalpindi jail, Shahid Hanif and Khalil Ahmed in Sukkur Jail while Bahram Khan will be executed in Karachi Central Jail on January 13.

Shafqat will be hanged on January 14 in Karachi Central Jail and Muhammad Talha will be hanged on January 15 in Sukkur Jail.

Prisoner Zulfiqar Ali was sentenced to death by an anti-terrorism court for murdering two policemen outside the US Consulate in Karachi. Another convict Shafqat had kidnapped a six-year-old child for ransom while Bahram was involved in the killing of a lawyer.

On December 17, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif lifted a six-year moratorium on death penalty for those convicted for terrorism a day after the deadly attack on Army Public School in Peshawar that left 150 persons including mostly children dead.

So far, seven militants convicted of attacks on the Pakistan Army headquarters and former military ruler Pervez Musharraf have been hanged.
