Death toll in famine-hit Thar reaches 176

Two children were transferred to the civil hospital Hyderabad after being declared critical.

THARPAKAR (Dunya News) – Famine took away two more lives in Thar on Friday mounting the death toll to 176 in a span of 72 days.

The deceased children include a newly born and a one-month Sabash Sajan whereas two children were transferred to the civil hospital Hyderabad after being declared critical.

Lack of medical facilities has put innocent lives at risk while the administration failed in meeting the needs of the affected people miserably. People remained devoid of wheat aid in Chachro whereas the fifth phase of assistance could not be initiated.

Relief teams were not set up despite administration and Health Ministry’s tall claims that is causing a disease-spread.

Investigative committee comprising Retired Justice Ghulam Sarwar and Justice Retired Arjun Das reached Thar to review situation which will report to Sindh government.
