Casa 1000 project to generate 1000 megawatt electricity for Pakistan
Afghanistan will be provided 300 megawatt electricity while Pakistan will acquire 1000 megawatt.
ISLAMABAD (Daily Dunya) – Pakistan, Afghanistan, Tajikistan and Kirghizstan have signed the comprehensive Casa 1000 Accord that will generate some 1000 megawatt electricity for Pakistan.
According the accord, the World Bank will provide financial and technical facilitation for the project whereas Pakistan will import 1000 megawatt electricity from Tajikistan and Kirghizstan.
In a statement issued from Pakistan Diplomatic Commission in Turkey, it was said that the signing ceremony took place in Istanbul.
Pakistan was represented by Federal Minister for Water and Power Khawaja Asif, Tajikistan by its Deputy Prime Minister Daulat Ali Syedu, Afghanistan by its Minister for Water and Power Ismail Khan and Kirghizstan by its Minister for Power and Industry.
The Casa 1000 project is expected to be completed by 2018. Kirghizstan and Tajikistan will export 30% and 70% electricity respectively.
Afghanistan will be provided 300 megawatt electricity while Pakistan will acquire 1000 megawatt.
