The PM has directed the Health Secretary to provide 20 new incubators to the hospital

SARGODHA (Dunya News) – Two newborn babies died on Friday due to lack of necessary facilities in the Teaching Hospital of the district.

According to details, as many as 13 newborns have died so far due to alleged insufficient number of incubators in the hospital.

Parents of the newborns have said that the hospital has just five incubators whereas as many as 60 newborns were admitted in the hospital.

According to the hospital administration, additional staff has been deployed in the nursery of the hospital.

Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif has directed the Health Secretary to provide equipment and machinery including 20 new incubators to the hospital.

The only hospital in Sargodha that deals with pregnancy issues is Government Maula Baksh Hospital which does not have a nursery ward due to which the newborns are admitted in Teaching Hospital which is half a kilometer away.

Teaching Hospital does have nursery but there is no women’s ward.

As many as 151 newborns have died in the past year due to these issues in the district.
