Zahid Hamid resigns after inclusion in treason case

Special court ordered to include Hamid's name in reference to the high treason case.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Federal Minister Science and Technology Zahid Hamid resigned on Friday after being named accomplice in high treason trial by the special court.

After tendering the resignation, Zahid Hamid also vacated his office. He has served as Law Minister for the government as well; the position was later withdrawn on account of his inclusion in the treason case.

Earlier today, special court approved the request for the trial of former Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz, former law minister Zahid Hamid and Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar as co-accused in Musharraf treason case and also ordered to re-record their statements.
