Elections for Sindh Bar Council underway
90 lawyers are contesting for 16 seats and 6,000 lawyers are expected to use their right to vote.
KARACHI (Dunya News) – Elections of Sindh Bar Council are under way at Sindh High Court (SHC) on Saturday.
6,000 lawyers from Sindh are expected to cast their vote to elects 16 members of the bar council. 90 lawyers are contesting for 16 seats that include 38 lawyers from South district contesting for 6 seats, 18 lawyers from Central and 18 from East are contesting for 4 seats each whereas 8 lawyers from Malir and 8 from West are contesting for 1 seat each.
It is for the first time that elections for Sindh Bar Council are being conducted in the premises of Sindh High Court instead of district courts.
Polling would continue till 5 pm.
