ECP starts local body election preparations in Punjab
ECP informed Secy Local Govt that it will redefine local body constituencies according to new law
LAHORE: (Dunya News) – Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has started preparations for local body elections in Punjab. In a letter to Secretary Local Government, ECP has informed that according to the new regulation, it is ECP’s job to redefine the local body constituencies. It has demanded the details of constituencies and wards from Secretary Local Government.
ECP has also demanded the maps of local body constituencies from Punjab government. Secretary Local Bodies has been directed to provide these details as soon as possible to the ECP so that redefining process can be started. It is pertinent to mention here that Federal and Punjab governments have completed the law-making process for authorizing ECP to redefine the local bodies’ constituencies.
