Old couple ties knot in flood-hit village of Gujrat

A colourful wedding ceremony was held for the old couple in a Gujrat village.

GUJRAT (Web Desk) – Drum beats and claps echoed in a flood-hit village of Gujrat where an 80-year-old man wedded a 75-year-old in Kurri Sharif village, Dunya News reported on Thursday.

Houses of groom Baba Khadim and bride Asima Bibi were swept away by flashfloods and their wedding was decided in Sialkot.

In the difficult time, the unprecedented event cheered the local flood-affected people who warmly welcomed the couple.

 

 

The floods and landslides from days of heavy monsoon rains have claimed more than 200 lives in Pakistan, with hospitals struggling to cope with the disaster.

The floodwaters are moving downstream through Pakistan s Punjab province, a key agricultural area and the country s most prosperous area.
