President Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) Qazi Anwar has rejected the recommendation of a parliamentary committee on appointment of judges saying that the committee does not have the mandate to appoint judges and only the Chief Justice and two senior judges of the Supreme Court should have this right. Addressing a press conference at Quetta press club, Anwar said that parliamentary committee should not be given any power to recommend appointment of judges. He added by giving power to the committee would mean that the judiciary is under the Parliament instead of performing its duties independently.Anwar also said that only chief justice's recommendation is not enough for appointment. He stated that present ruling party has hired lobbyist in the US who launched a campaign against Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudary. He said that the lobby is propagating in the US that the CJ pose serious threat to democracy in Pakistan.
