LoC: Unprovoked Indian firing continues to violate ceasefire in Sialkot
BSF did not hesitate to target the locals and freely used heavy machine guns.
SIALKOT (Dunya News) – Chenab Rangers retaliated to the unprovoked firing of Indian Border security Forces (BSF) in the Bajwat sector of Sialkot on Thursday.
The attack targeted the Shahbazpur check post whereas BSF also didn’t hesitate to target the locals and freely used heavy machine guns.
Chenab Rangers silenced the Indian offences by immediately retaliating.
The unprovoked firing by Indian BSF from across the border has instilled a lot of panic and harass among the locals.
Chenab Rangers have demanded a flag meeting with the Indian forces in the wake of these continuous incidents of ceasefire violation in Sialkot during this month.
Earlier, Director General (DG) Operations from both countries, Pakistan and India while talking via the hotline, mutually agreed to lessen the present strain on the working boundary and the Line of Control (LOC) between the two countries, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) stated.
Recently, Indian bombardment martyred five people and injured 17 people. Due to such terrible conditions, people were forced to migrate from their dwelling, ISPR added.
Meanwhile, prior to this conversation, a two-member team representing the United Nations (UN) visited the bordering villages of Sialkot in Pakistan to take a survey of the human and financial loss incurred due to bombardment by the Indian forces.
The UN team also interviewed the affected people in various areas, and reportedly, they stated that their houses were destroyed due to Indian bombardment.
On August 24, in another incident of ceasefire violation in Sialkot, intermittent firing at the Line of Control (LoC) wounded 3.
The offences from across the border continued throughout the night. In Bajra Ghari , a 44-year old Latif lost his leg in the incident of shelling whereas Zahid and Fayyaz of Dhamal village also got wounded as a result of the unprovoked firing from India.
The injured were admitted to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) whereas the unverified sources revealed that the firing from India at the Chaprar Sector in Punjab wounded two officers Azam and Iqbal.
In response to this Indian aggression, Chanab Rangers retaliated immediately to silence the guns.
Indian Border Security Forces (BSF) started off a series of unprovoked firing at the areas of Chappar, Charwa, Harpal and Sajeet Garh that has continued for many days now. Five people had been martyred and many injured in the firing this month whereas several houses and property worth millions has been destroyed and livestock were killed.
The locals had started to migrate to safer havens in the wake of these ongoing firing incidents.
Dozens of other villages including Nandpur, Rangpur Jattan and Kesera had come under fire.
A day before that, two people including a woman were killed and five others injured on in heavy firing by Indian Border Security Forces (BSF) at three sectors in Sialkot.
Indian troops used heavy weapons to target Pakistani posts in Suchet Garh, Charwa and Chaparral Sectors. Two civilians including Imdad Hussain of Bajra Garhi and Rukhsana of Khudral village were killed in the firing.
Several houses in Nandpur, Rangpur Jattan, Bajra Garhi and Khudral were also damaged.
Chenab Rangers took positions and responded with equal caliber weapons to Indian firing. The exchange of fire lasted till 7:00am.
India and Pakistan often accuse each other of violating a border ceasefire which has largely held since 2003.
Despite the truce, firing along the disputed de facto border called the Line of Control that separates Kashmir into Indian and Pakistani sectors, has occurred sporadically.
