Clashes between PML-N, PTI continue as Azadi march proceeds towards Islamabad

Imran said Sharif brothers will be responsible if any untoward incident occurred during the march.

GUJRANWALA (Dunya News) – Clashes between Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf continued on Friday as Azadi March proceeded towards Islamabad.

At least five clashes at different places in Gujranwala were reported between PTI and PML-N workers, injuring four marchers.

The PML-N activists hurled stones at PTI rally that smashed windows of Imran Khan’s container as well.

Talking to Dunya news, Imran Khan said that it was the fourth time that they were attacked by PML-N activists, adding that the police was present at the site.

He said they pelted stones on PTI supporters.

He urged the marchers to remain peaceful. Khan said Sharif brothers will be responsible if any untoward incident happened during the Azadi march.

Khan said he will not come back from Islamabad until the heads of "Gullu Butts" step down.

In another tweet, Khan said he will deal with Sharif brothers in Islamabad.

Condemning the Gujranwala clash between PML-N and PTI workers, the Punjab CM directed the police to take strict action against all those involved in the incident while ordered to shut down all PML-N offices that comes between the route of PTI till Pindi.

The first clash erupted outside the office of PML-N MPA Imran Khalid Butt on G.T. Road. The PTI supporters chanted slogans against the government after seeing the pictures of Nawaz and Shahbaz Sharif on billboards. The situation turned violent after PML-N workers allegedly hurled stones and injured several workers.

Soon after the incident, the PML-N activists entered the PTI rally in groups and chanted slogans against Imran Khan and pelted stones on the Azadi marchers. The situation came under control after police baton-charged the violent supporters of both parties.

Punjab CM urged the PML-N workers to remain peaceful. He said the Punjab IG has been directed to provide foolproof security to the march, adding that the Gujranwala admin will have to tell as to why the bullet was fired from police van.
