Buyers continue to suffer at the hands of profiteers and hoarders.

LAHORE (Dunya News) – The locals on Friday protested against the high prices of eatables in the Ramazan bazaars, Dunya News reported.
According to the details, high price fruits and vegetables include apples, bananas, ginger and potatoes respectively… chicken prices have also increased by 11 rupees per kg.
Potatoes are available at the price of Rs 80 per kg in the market, whereas their officially determined price is Rs 68. Similarly, the price of tomatoes on the rate list is Rs 35; however, it is being sold at Rs 50 in the market.
The same story goes on with ginger which has completed a century of extreme price hype of Rs 300 per kg which is 34 Rs more expensive than its designated price i.e. Rs 266 per kg.
Garlic is continuously being sold at Rs 90 per kg and its actual price is Rs 88 per kg. Not only this, lady finger and bitter gourd have their so called market rates of Rs 60 and Rs 50 per kg respectively. If we look over the prices of fruits, they have become out of the range for the middle and poor classes, especially in the holy month of Ramazan.
The price of bananas boosted on the rate list is Rs 165 per dozen. On the contrary, street vendors keep on overcharging the buyers by selling them at Rs 180 per dozen. Similarly, different categories of apples price range falls between Rs 120 to 180 per kg instead of their actual price Rs 90 to 145 per kg respectively.
Residents of different areas of Lahore protested against the high rates of commodities. They say that the continuously rising prices have made the life of a common man impossible.
In Ramazan, the broiler chicken is also being sold almost 11 rupees more expensive than the price displayed on the rate list which is Rs 220 per kg, making it a hard reality that the local buyers of different areas of Lahore and the suburbs have to buy these eatables at the locally set rates by the sellers of that particular area.
Reports show that chicken is being sold at least 5 to 10 rupees more expensive in the posh areas of Lahore. However, in small towns it is being sold according to the market list prices.
