ECNEC approves various projects

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) - The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council has approved a number of important projects in various sectors.

ECNEC meeting held here on Thursday under the chair of Finance Minister Ishaq Dar. The meeting approved construction of Sukkur-Multan section of Karachi-Multan-Lahore motorway with a rationalized cost of 259.353 billion.

It also approved the project for land acquisition, affected properties compensation and relocation of utilities for construction of 959 kilometer Karachi-Lahore motorway at a cost of 51 billion rupees.

The ECNEC approved raising of Balochistan constabulary project at a cost of 5.146 billion rupees. The project aims to assist police and district administration in maintenance of law and order in Balochistan by recruiting 6,000 additional force.

It also envisages merging 4,000 reserve police personnel to make 10,000 strong force of Balochistan constabulary.

The meeting also approved flood emergency reconstruction project for bunds and canals costing 26.905 billion rupees with financial aid of Asian Development Bank.

The ECNEC also approved the project for transmission of power from wind power plants at Jhimpir and Gharo Wind Clusters located in district Thatta and Jamshoro in Sindh at a cost of 11.277 billion rupees.

The ECNEC also approved acquisition of land for establishment of free trade zone at Gwadar at a cost of about 6.5 billion rupees.

The ECNEC principally approved the PM laptops student at a cost of 4.928 billion rupees.

It also approved rehabilitation and up-gradation of Trimmu Barrage and Panjnad Headworks and dualization and improvement of 64 kilometer long Mandra-Chakwal road.
