Defence Ministry establishes media center to 'counter propaganda'
The media center will also monitor TV channels of other countries including India.
RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) – Federal Defence Ministry established a modern media center on Wednesday, aimed at ‘countering propaganda.’ Secretary Defence Asif Yasin Malik said that the cell will be effective also to counter ‘external propaganda,’ Dunya News reported.
The modern media center was inaugurated by Secretary Defence Lieutenant General (r) Asif Yasin Malik at the Defence Ministry in Rawalpindi.
Narita Farhan was made incharge of the media center. Talking to media on the occasion, Malik said that the media center has been established upon direction from the Prime Minister.
He said that Prime Minister desires that the ministries should give their point of view without any delays as the delay makes the news story take a whole new turn.
Malik said that the Ministry of Defence has obeyed Prime Minister’s direction the first. He said that the concerned authorities will receive SMS alerts containing breaking news pertinent to the ministry, adding that the concerned officer will respond if they deem necessary.
The media center will also monitor TV channels of other countries including India so that foreign propaganda can be timely responded.
The protocol in this regard is that if the Defence Ministry deems necessary to respond to a broadcast on foreign media about Pakistan, it will do it by itself. Otherwise, the foreign ministry will immediately be alerted.
