SC voids 238 appointments in EOBI

EOBI Chairman will be responsible for the new appointments, the apex court told.

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) - The Supreme Court has annulled two hundred and thirty eight appointments made in Employees Old Age Benefits Institution (EOBI) in violation of the rules.

Giving its judgment in the case today (Monday)‚ a two member bench headed by Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali declared the appointments during ex-EOBI chairman Zafar Gondal’s tenure (2010-2013) as null and void.

The apex court directed that recruitment in the EOBI should be made in accordance with rules and merit.

The bench also ordered NAB to probe the issue of illegal appointments.
