Taliban committee meets TTP leadership in North Waziristan

Taliban committee and TTP shura have agreed to hold talks with government�s negotiators in FR Bannu.

MIRANSHAH (Dunya News) - A meeting of Taliban committee with the shura of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) was held at an undisclosed location here on Thursday.

TTP leaders including Sheikh Khalid Haqqani, Qari Shakeel, Azam Tariq, Shahidullah Shahid, Sajid Mohmand and Ahsanullah Ahsan represented Taliban shura while Taliban committee members Maulana Yusuf Shah, Professor Ibrahim, Maulana Abdul Haye were also present in the meeting.

According to sources, TTP shura and Taliban committee have agreed to hold direct talks with the government negotiators in FR Bannu Azad Mandi.

The meeting built consensus over several matters while a recommendation regarding extension in ceasefire was also put forward by Maulana Samiul Haq.

However, the Taliban leaders said that the decision in this regard would be made after the meeting of TTP shura.
Sources added that the Taliban shura also informed the Taliban negotiation committee about its reservation.

Earlier on Thursday, the Taliban negotiating committee arrived in North Waziristan to meet central leadership of banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

Talking to media before leaving for Miranshah, Taliban committee member Maulana Yusuf Shah said that the next phase of the talks would be about decision making.

Meanwhile, PM’s special adviser Sartaj Aziz said that the government was making all efforts to resolve matters through dialogue, adding that no time-frame can be given for peace talks with the Taliban.

Addressing the media in London, Sartaj Aziz said that the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) was challenging the writ. He said the government will establish writ of the state at all costs, adding that action will be taken if need be.

He said the European Union or any other country doesn t have to impose any condition over Taliban matter as Pakistan already had a clear policy over security.

On the other hand, the government on Wednesday announced a new four member committee to hold talks with Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

According to details, Secretary Ports and Shipping Habibullah Khattak will lead the government’s negotiation committee while other members include Rustam Shah Mohmand, Additional Secretary FATA Arbab Arif and PM’s additional secretary Fawad Hassan Fawad.
