North Waziristan: Taliban committee to meet TTP leadership

The government had formed a new four-member committee to hold direct talks with the Taliban.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The Taliban negotiating committee will make a visit to North Waziristan Thursday to meet central leadership of banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

The meeting will decide the place and time for future round of direct talks with the government negotiating committee.

Earlier on Wednesday, the government announced a new committee to hold talks with Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

According to details, Secretary Ports and Shipping Habibullah Khattak will lead the government’s negotiation committee while other members include Rustam Shah Mohmand, Additional Secretary FATA Arbab Arif and PM’s additional secretary Fawad Hassan Fawad.

Sources added that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan has also agreed on the names of negotiation committee.

Meanwhile, members of Taliban committee also called on Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Wednesday.

The interior minister took the members of Taliban committee into confidence over the decision of formation of new committee by the government to hold talks with Taliban.
