KARACHI (Dunya News) - Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) on Sunday held public rallies in several cities to express solidarity with the party chief Altaf Hussain.

Addressing a public gathering in Karachi, MQM leader Dr Farooq Sattar termed the BBC documentary as propaganda against Altaf Hussain based on dishonesty. He said that the MQM would exercise its democratic and legal rights when needed.
Sattar said that the propaganda has been launched to back the opponent of MQM. He said the MQM condemns media trial of Altaf Hussain and MQM.

Farooq Sattar said Altaf Hussain was a symbol of stability of the country and propagandas against him was a worst conspiracy and a tactic to destabilize Pakistan. He said the MQM is there with Altaf Hussain’s message of truth to correct the misunderstandings about the party as there is propaganda and false allegations on one hand and message of truth by the party chief on the other. Dr Farooq Sattar said that the MQM is a democratic party and believes in non-violence and peace.

Addressing the gathering, MQM lead Amir Khan said that the workers have gathered to expose international conspiracies against Altaf Hussain and Pakistan. He said those leveling charges against MQM should look into their own deeds.

Faisal Sabzwari said that media trial of MQM was not new as Altaf Hussain revolted against this exploitative system. He said that thousands of MQM workers were martyred but Altaf Hussain always adopted slogan of Pakistan Zidabad (long live Pakistan) and urged to work for the stability of the country.

Sabzwari said that Altaf Hussain had faced charges of traitor but he always prioritized the interest of the country. He said that Altaf Hussain always raised voice in favour of down trodden against feudalism and ruling classes.

On the other hand, MQM workers organised a public rally outside Lahore Press Club to express solidarity with their party chief.

On this occasion, the party leaders said that minus-Altaf formula was unacceptable. The workers were carrying banners and placards AND SHOUTED slogans in favour of Mutahidda Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain.

Addressing the rally, joint incharge of MQM’s provincial body Syed Iftikhar Ali said that MQM made progress due to leadership of Altaf Hussain and every worker was standing shoulder to shoulder with the party chief.

MQM’s Central Punjab president Bisma Sukhaera said that the enemy of Altaf Hussain and MQM would be defeated to carry out their evil designs. He said that media trial against Altaf Hussain and MQM would not be accepted.

Last Thursday, the coordination committee of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) stated that life of Altaf Hussain was in a serious danger. A message of the party chief was also issued by the coordination committee.

In his message, Altaf Hussain said that false allegations were being leveled against him on international level and a conspiracy had been hatched to file baseless cases against him.

The MQM chief said that he continued his mission despite the hardships and imprisonment in past but never bowed before any pressure and will never bow before any foreign pressure.

Altaf Hussain directed the MQM’s coordination committee, elected representatives and workers to take his message seriously.

He urged the party workers to continue his mission and follow his true ideology in case of any harm to his life.

Altaf directed the party workers to remain vigilant and continue MQM’s mission in a responsible way.

Later, addressing a press conference at party’s headquartering ‘Nine-Zero’ in Karachi, members of the MQM’s coordination committee defended Altaf Hussain and said that a media trial was being orchestrated against him.

It is worth mentioning here that the UK police Wednesday sought Pakistan’s help in tracing out two suspects believed to be involved in the murder of MQM senior leader Imran Farooq while the metropolitan police sealed several bank accounts of MQM for not paying taxes.

MQM leader Imran Farooq was stabbed outside his home in Edgware, London, close to the Pakistani political party s international HQ in 2010.

According to details, UK prosecutors asked Pakistan to trace two suspects believed to have been involved in the 2010 murder of Imran Farooq.

Documents obtained by BBC Newsnight name the suspects as Mohsin Ali Syed and Mohammed Kashif Khan Kamran. They are believed to be in Pakistani custody but not under formal arrest.
