PIA introduces in-flight SMS and phone services
PIA has introduced the telecommunication services in Boeing 777 aircrafts for long-haul routes.
KARACHI: (Dunya News) Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has announced, Wednesday, that the airline will now offer in-flight SMS and call services in its fleet of Boeing 777 aircrafts designated for long-haul flights
PIA s Managing Director Junaid Yunus had said that the service will initially be offered on Boeing 777 which are designated on long-haul destinations including US, Canada and Europe. A total of 9 Boeing 777s are part of PIA’s fleet all of which are designated for long-haul flights. The passengers will now be able to avail in-flight SMS and telephone services using the devices installed at every seat. Service charges and provider are still unconfirmed.
PIA had announced last month that the national airline intends to be the first Pakistani airline to offer in-flight WiFi internet service however developments and progress regarding that are also unconfirmed.
PIA has been desperately trying to improve service amidst the recent wave of controversies surrounding the airline including flight delays and privatization..
