Appeal in Sarfraz Shah murder case rejected
The court upholds death sentence for the main accused.
Karachi (Dunya News) - Sindh High Court upheld the death sentence for Rangers personnel Shahid Zafar and life sentence for rest of the accused while acquitted Liaqat Ali.
Anti-Terrorist Court slapped the sentences against the accused in 2011 in Sarfraz Shah murder case.
The convicts moved the Sindh High Court against their sentences. The convicted personnel also struck a deal with the family of the victim and the document of the deal was also submitted in the court. The family of the victim said in the deal that they had pardoned the convicts.
The court set aside the deal and upheld the death sentence of Shaid Zafar, and life imprisonments of Sub-Inspector Bahaur Rehman, driver Manthar Ali, Ranger Tariq Ali, and Afsar Khan. Liaqat Ali, another accused in the case, was acquitted by the court.
The ex-chief justice took suo motu notice of the incident and handed over the case to the Anti-Terrorist Court after initial hearing.
