Income tax being deducted from Mps salary income

The tax is deducted from the salaries of parliamentarians under section 149 of Income Tax Ordinance.

(Web Desk) - Federal Board of Revenue has clarified that income tax is deducted on salary income of all the parliamentarians.

According to FBR Spokesman Shahid Hussain Asad‚ the tax is deducted from the salaries of parliamentarians under section 149 of Income Tax Ordinance 2001.

Regarding agricultural tax‚ he said under the constitution‚ the Federal Government cannot tax agricultural income.

He‚ however‚ said agricultural income is taxable under the provincial Agricultural Income Tax law.

Earlier‚ Public Accounts Committee directed FBR to clarify the factual position against media reports that parliamentarians are not paying taxes.
