Musharraf treason case: IHC rejects appeals, verdict announced
IHC says Article 6 of the constitution does not permit to proceed the case under army act.
ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday issued detailed verdict over the intra-court appeal filed by former president General (retd) Pervez Musharraf challenging the formation of a special court to try him for treason.
Justice Noor-ul-Haq announced the 11-page detailed verdict written by Justice Riaz Ahmad Khan against the petitions.
According to the verdict, Article 6 of the constitution does not permit to proceed the case under army act as more legislation is needed for this.
The verdict further said that Prosecutor General was appointed after the approval of Prime Minister of Pakistan while the legal points were not raised in the objection over the formation of special court.
The former president had moved Islamabad High Court against the formation of the special court and the appointment of prosecutor in treason case.
