President Mamnoon urges inter-faith harmony
Asks people to set aside their differences and work collectively for the progress of Pakistan.
ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) - Addressing a national conference on Inter-faith harmony on Sunday, President Mamnoon Hussain said Islam preaches peace‚ brotherhood and harmony and prohibits bloodshed and chaos. He said Islam is a universal religion offering solution for all issues and difficulties.
Terming the promotion of harmony and tolerance as vital for peaceful co-existence in the society President Mamnoon Hussain urged the religious scholars to guide the people in accordance with true spirit and teachings of Islam.
He said the whole nation is united on the issue of terrorism sectarianism and extremism. He hoped that the government with the cooperation of the people would take issues of terrorism and extremism to their logical conclusion to purge the country of these menaces.
The President asked the people to set aside their differences and promote love and harmony‚ and work collectively for the progress and prosperity of the country.
President Mamnoon regretted that neither mosques nor Bargahs‚ shrines or churches are safe. Today even the schools are being blown up an innocent people subjected to violence.
He said terrorism has created panic across the world in unfortunately the Muslims are being blamed for the prevailing situation.
The president pointed out that Islam has never allowed to impose own faith on others. He said no non-Muslim can be forced to embrace Islam.
President Mamnoon Hussain called for the philosophy of saints to regain the grandeur of Islam and introduce the religion to world in its true form.
Earlier‚ religious scholars and Ulema in their speeches stressed for interfaith harmony among people of various sects and faiths to curb the menace of sectarianism.
They were unanimous in their views that there were no differences among the people and anti-state elements are destabilizing the country by fanning hatred and sectarianism.
