Chief Justice of Pakistan asks government to show complete progress in recovery of missing persons.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Supreme Court of Pakistan on Tuesday ordered government to present missing persons till Thursday.

During the proceedings of the case, Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP), Jusitice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry remarked that last time the court extended the deadline of producing missing persons on the request of Defence Minister and now the time has been given on the request of Attorney General.

The Chief Justice said that the government would have to show concrete progress regarding recovery of missing persons.

He said that Prime Minister and the Army Chief could face consequences in case of failure in missing persons recovery.

The CJP further remarked that those involved in the disappearance of several people would also be produced in the court.

He said that the Prime Minster of Pakistan was also bound to follow the orders of Supreme Court and if the court issues any order and this situation can create further problems.

Minister for Defense Khawaja Asif maintained took the stance before the court that the PM and Army Chief have assured recovery of missing persons.

He told the court that 3 out of 33 persons have been recovered whose names have been kept secret due to security reasons.

The CJP accepted the plea to keep the names secret and said that the missing persons can be recovered within an hour if the government intends to relocate them.

The Supreme Court adjourned the hearing of the case till December 5.

Later talking to the media persons‚ Minister for Defense Khawaja Asif said three more missing persons have been located. He said the government is giving top priority to the issue and the prime minister is personally monitoring the situation.
