Plea for delay in local bodies' polls moved

Local bodies' elections have become a challenge for provincial and federal government.
LAHORE (Dunya News) Pakistan Lawyers Foundation Monday moved a petition in the Lahore High Court seeking delay for one month more for holing of local bodies’ elections.
Petitioner A K Doggar took the stance that the government of Punjab found itself unable to make arrangements in this regard as the printing of ballot papers is yet under process which demands more time for completion.
He also argued that if the government is pressurized to hold elections in such crucial situation, the transparency of the elections would really be doubtful, leading to further chaos in the country which is already in the grip of hard challenges.
The petitioner requested to the court to delay the local bodies elections for one month till January 7.
It is worthy of note that all the three provincial governments have announced date for holding of elections but Sindh and Punjab are showing their incompetency in this regard.
