Terrorists can use ambulances and media vans to target Muharram procession, agencies warn.


ISLAMABAD/ SARGODHA/ PESHAWAR (Dunya News) - Intelligence agencies have issued directions to all provincial governments to not allow the ambulances and media vans to pass from the routes of mourning processions during Muharram.

Intelligence agencies have issued these directions to all provincial governments including Gilgit/Baltistan (GB).

As per directions, government’s ambulances for mourning processions and media vans will be allowed to enter after complete security checking and official pass verification.

Sources from interior ministry said, due to security issues, this year government has directed to law enforcement agencies to park the ambulances and media vans at the distance from mourning processions.

Intelligence agencies have also informed to law enforcement institutions to issue the special media passes to media men as soon as possible to avoid any difficulty.

Like this, Health Secretaries of the entire country have been also directed to provide all data of ambulances and their staff to law enforcement agencies.

Meanwhile the security of high dignitaries of the country has been tighten after receiving the threat of Taliban in regard to target VIP personalities.

Details said, security departments have directed all Commissioners, DCOs, DIGs and SSPs in a letter to not only keep the movement of VIPs secret, but also to check the route 4 times before issuing the clearance.

All-important personalities will be allowed to travel after the clearance of concerned security officials.
