Traders announce to hold demos against increase in electricity, petrol prices and taxes.

FAISALABAD (Dunya News) - The decision to observe strike on October 26 was taken in Punjab Traders Convention held here Wednesday in which 150 representatives participated.

The resolution passed in the convention termed the hike in electricity prices as an anti-people step.

It was declared that imposition of new taxes was tantamount to mini-budget.

Traders said that they voted for PML-N thinking that it was a trader-friendly party but their perception has proved wrong.

They said government did not take business community into confidence before announcing increase Sales Tax, Income Tax, Excise Duty.

The leaders of the traders’ organization said they were being threatened by the representatives of the government for putting forward demands.

“If government does not withdraw the increase in tax rates, traders across Punjab will observe shutter-down strike.
