Minor earthquake jolts Shangla

PESHAWAR (Dunya News) - A moderate intensity of earthquake jolted different parts of Shangla on Wednesday.

According to seismic centre, the magnitude of the earthquake was 4.7 on the Richter Scale, while its epicentre was in Afghanistan’s Hindukush region at a depth of 163 kilometre.

Tremors were also felt in Chitral and Peshawar. However, no loss of life and property was reported until filing of this report.

Meanwhile, 7.7-magnitude quake struck on Tuesday afternoon in Baluchistan province's Awaran district -- a dirt-poor expanse of land that is roughly the size of Wales.

According to details, military rushed to reach the scene of a huge earthquake that killed at least 245 people and toppled many mud-built homes when it hit the country's south with enough force to create a new island off the coast.
