SC angry over delay in NAB chief's appointment

SC directs government to immediately appoint Chairman of National Accountability Bureau.
(Web Desk) - Hearing appointment of Chairman NAB case in Islamabad today (Friday)‚ the bench observed that the post of chairman NAB is vacant for the past many months‚ which is delaying investigation of many mega scandals.
A five member bench of the Supreme Court headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry heard the case.
The court‚ in its order‚ asked the government to take the orders seriously and appoint the chairman NAB at the earliest. The court said it is the responsibility of the federation to make the NAB fully functional.
Earlier‚ Attorney General Munir A Malik sought one week time for the appointment of Chairman NAB. The court rejected the arguments of the Attorney General describing them as irrelevant.
The AG said consultation is underway for the appointment of an uncontroversial chairman NAB.
He said the appointment has not been made due to the visit of leader of the opposition abroad.
Hearing of the case has been adjourned for an indefinite period.
