Karachi: Police round up 81 suspects during operation

A special meeting of the Federal Cabinet will be held in Karachi tomorrow.

KARACHI (Dunya News) Police conducted raids in various parts of the city on Monday after midnight, arresting over 80 people allegedly involved in street crimes, robberies, drug business and other crimes.

According to the police, 70 suspects were rounded up in Landhi, and Korangi, nine in Zaman Town and Chakra Goth, five in Awami Colony, two in Malir City and six in Saudabad, recovering drugs and heavy amount of cash from their possession.

As many as 10 people including three Afghan nationals were held in Soldier Bazar. Seven suspects were apprehended within the remits of Jamshed Quarter Police Station while were eight held in Gadren. Cases have been lodged against the accused under different sections.

Meanwhile, a special meeting of the Federal Cabinet will be held in Karachi tomorrow to discuss the prevailing law and order situation in the provincial metropolis.

Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif will preside the session.

Sindh Governor Dr. Ishrat Ibad Khan and Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah and heads of intelligence and law enforcement agencies will also attend the meeting.
