KP CM says jailbreak a failure of intelligence agencies
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister has ordered an inquiry into the jailbreak in Dera Ismail Khan.
PESHAWAR (Web Desk) – CM Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Perevz Khattak has said that he had ordered the authorities concerned to increase the security of prisons but his orders were ignored.
Speaking to media Tuesday, Khattak said he had been informed that security at prisons had been increased.
He said the DIK jailbreak was a failure of intelligence agencies.
Khattak said he would travel to Dera Ismail Khan and visit the prison.
He has also directed authorities to enhance security at prisons across the province.
At least 243 prisoners escaped as militants carrying heavy weapons stormed Dera Ismail Khan’s Central Jail.
Nine people including six policemen were killed and 14 others injured in the audacious attack while four prisoners were also killed by security forces.
